NYFW Day 5 recap

I don't know about you, but every season I get really inspired to come up with new looks or combine different things in my closet for a new style. It's fun to see all the new and recurring styles on the runway, and then go to your closet and try to recreate them in your own way.  Monday's shows had a lot of designers who usually design gowns and dresses for red carpet events. Let's be honest, most of us don't really have a need for a ball gown, but they are great inspiration for your everyday looks.  Here are some that caught my eye.

Jenny Packham is known for many red carpet looks. But this season she mixed it up a bit and added some other style too.  There was a black and silver theme to her runway collection. Lot's of sparkle and an underlying edginess to her runway looks this season.  I am digging all the catsuits this season.  Not sure there are many places to wear such a garment, but I am really drawn to them.

If you want a dress that is 100% fit to your body's dimensions, Carolina Herrera is your girl.  Her dresses are amazing and the fit of each one is perfection.  The way her gowns drape and gather, can make any woman swoon. She used rich reds in her fall collection as well as fun bright prints.  I love the sheerness of the fabrics. It adds a bit of sexiness to her looks.

Tracy Reese also had a seventies theme going on for her Fall collection.  Her designs are a mix of warm neutrals and bright spring like hues.  Fur and over the knee socks were also big trends. I am obsessed with the top look from her show yesterday! Ladies, if you don't own a pleated skirt for fall, you are missing out big time! They are everywhere!

Monique Lhullier is most know for her amazing wedding gowns, and her fall collection of red carpet gowns and black tie looks are nothing short of amazing. She uses such intricate detail on all her garments.  You may not be able to wear these looks to work or drinks with the girls, but you can translate these looks to everyday wear.  Black, lace, and leopard are huge trends for the fall.  Those can easily be translated to everyday looks.

The designs on Theyskens were dark and bold.  Strong tailored looks as well as lush velvet and sheer fabrics we also looks of this fall collection.  I love the shorts with tights, and the wide leg trousers.  Both of these looks are popular trends to watch for next fall.

Pearls, fur, platinum satin and tweed were in the mix on Donna Karen's fall runway. Uptown classy and a bit sexy was the overall vibe of her colection.  I love the silver fur and satin blouses paired with high-waisted skirts.  The soft color palette is so luxe and dreamy.

Alice + Olivia's fall collection is over the top gorgeous.  Every look was done in such detail that you couldn't help but stare.  With tweeds, sequins, fur, and lace, this collection screams luxury.

When everyone else is doing stripes, leave it to Marc Jacobs to fo against the grain and use polka dots.  He is the master mind behind not only his own collection, but also the mega luxe brand Louis Vuitton. Everything was artificial with his collection.  He use croc-printed leather, sequins made to look like fur, and rubber made to look like sequins.  He is such a forward thinker and master of this craft.  I was blown away by how creative this collection was.
