Let's play "catch up with Sarah"

Hello, Lovelies!!! It's back to the regular posts for SBF. I hope you all enjoyed all the Fashion Week posts as much as I enjoyed getting to attend all the shows and events. It truly was a dream come true!

So, I have been in NYC for almost a month, and a lot has happened in this short amount of time. I moved, furnished my apt (thanks to my fabulous mom helping get everything situated and put in its new place), attended fashion week, and got a job. YES! You read that last one right! I was offered and excepted a job for a fabulous fashion house and I start Monday! YAY! YAY! YAY! Who knew in less than a month I would be employed in NYC AND in the field that I have always wanted to work in? I am literally on cloud nine and cannot wait to see what this job will be like. I get "orientated" Monday, and then will hit the ground running, learning my job and what its like working for a fabulous company. I still plan on keeping up with the posts, they just might be at odd hours until I get acquainted with my new work schedule.

I am more certain now, than ever, that moving to NYC was the BEST decision I could have ever made at this point in my life. I miss my friends and family terribly, but am so excited for the new adventures that are ahead of me. Have a great weekend, and I will see you all back here Monday! xo

Kanon Bar at Milk Studios

In between shows last Saturday, I headed to the 8th floor of Milk Studios to check out the Kanon Bar, curated by Apotheke. If you haven't heard of Kanon Vodka before, let me tell you a little about it. Kanon Vodka is made of 100% locally grown (swedish farmers) organic wheat. It is made with only natural ingredients, and it only $26 a bottle! They pride themselves on being eco-freindly and getting back to the "old way" of making alcohol with pesticide-free practices. Ok, so now that you have a little background on the company, let's talk about the event and a HUGE run-in, that I still cannot stop thinking about! Once in the lounge, I went straight to the bar and was greeted by one of the handsome Apotheke mixologists, who politely asked me to "pick me poison." Oh, that could be dangerous, but I obliged and started with a Downtown Silhouette. This was one of the 5 designer inspired Kanon Vodka cocktails. It was inspired buy inspired by Cushnie et Ochs S/S 2012 collection, and along with vodka had blackberries, agave nectar, and champagne among other things. It was a little on the heavier side for me, but I did enjoy the mix of champagne and blackberries. While chatting with a few of the other guest, and resting my tired feet from waling in my fabulous heels all day, I noticed that my phone was about to die on me, so I scoured the room until I found the last lone outlet and jumped at the chance to give my phone some much needed juice. While patiently waiting for my phone to charge, someone came up to me asking to use my phone charger. Now, me being the type that cannot survive without my phone, I was about to say no, that I desperately need to charge this baby a little longer. But when I looked up and realized that it was none other than the amazing and fabulous Bryan Boy, I disconnected my phone and handed him my charger faster than you could say stiletto! I have been a HUGE fan of his for a while now, and was really glad I was able to spend a good 45 minutes chatting with him about everything from boys, fashion, travel, blogs, to the reason we were there; the craze that is fashion week. He was sweet enough to get us another round of drinks, and this time we tried the Dew Drop, which was inspired by Erin Fetherson’s S/S 2012 collection. It was light, refreshing, and honestly went down a "little" too easily. This concoction contained aloe vera juice, honeydew/tarragon puré, agave nectar, and a little smoked paprika which I thought was the perfect touch. After out cocktails we parted ways, and headed to our next show. There were a few other Kanon Vodka cocktail options. The Laural Canyon, inspired by Billy Reid’s S/S 2012 collection, contained iced tea, lemocello, and cucumber. The Red Savage, inspired by Katie Gallagher's S/S 2012 collection had snow pea, garbanzo bean, chayote bean and beet purée, shaved ginger, and a salted rim. Lastly, was the Lust in the Dust, inspired by Jeremy Scott's S/S 2012 collection. This baby had celery, lime, pear, and carrot juice, topped off with three cherries. Although they all sounded delicious, it seemed that the crowd favorite was the Dew Drop. If you ever have the chance to try Kanon, give it a shot! It's a new wave of alcohol that I think is just on the cusp of something big!  I thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet Bryan and the Mixologists who did a fabulous job creating these one of a kind drinks. Cheers to a great evening!

Sorry, I didn't het a picture of or with Bryan. I just felt it was a little over the top at the time. But if you follow me on twitter, you saw that I really did meet him and share my phone charger with him. xo

Have a great weekend, Lovelies! Check back later this weekend for more Fashion Week mayhem! If you thought I was finished posting, you are soo wrong. I have about 15 more posts coming your way!

Cynthia Rowley "Glambulance" Fashion Week S/S 2012

Before heading into the tents Friday night, I stopped by the Cynthia Rowley "Glambulance" to see what it was all about. If you aren't familiar with the Glambulance, check out this previous post on I Heart Heels to get filled in. Cynthia's team was sweet enough to let us borrow a flip cam to use the night of their show, YAY! So with this fabulous little camera, I decided I would get some coverage of what was happening at the glambulance. There was a line at least 20 people deep waiting for complimentary makeup application, or to have their hair re-styled before going back to more fabulous shows. They had lots of products available for you to take home with you. From neosporan, Cynthia Rowley designed Band-Aid 's, blister balm, blotting pads, travel mirror, and several other fashion "emergency" products we might need throughout the day. Check out the video I shot on the flip cam. I am seriously thinking about purchasing one of these little gems. It is the perfect size and is super easy to use (which is always helpful when you are trying to do 10 things at once during fashion week.)

Joy Cioci - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2012

Hello Lovelies!!! Yes, I am still here, but just by the heel of my stilettos! This week has been CRAY-ZY! I have literally been going since I landed in NYC last Tuesday. And let me tell you, Fashion Week is like nothing I have ever experienced. It's hectic, crowded, and ultimate fashion overload, but it's been one of the most amazing experiences I have ever been extended. I mean, if you are a fashion obsessed girl like me, this is literally the mecca of fashion. It's where you NEED to be to keep up with what trends are going to be on point for next season.

I kicked off my week of shows Friday with the Joy Cioci Presentation. If you aren't familiar with Fashion Week, some designers do not have runway shows, they do a presentation. This is where models stand around a room dressed in the designers newest collection, and you can really look at the garments. I enjoy the fact that I can get a close up of the models and the clothes, what I don't like is how crowded it is and you are always stepping on someone or someone is in your way! It was still a nice experience, and I really enjoyed her collection. Check out my recap of the Joy Cioci Presentation for S/S 2012 HERE

Fashion's Night Out - NYC

Last night was Fashion's Night Out, and let me tell you, it was ah-mazing! I started the night off at Samantha Thavasa, where I got to meet Tinsley Mortimer! Y’all, she is the sweetest most down to earth girl you will ever meet. She is also a fellow southern girl, so we had quite a lot in common, and lots of things to talk about. We talked about her fabulous fall handbag collection, some upcoming projects she has in the works, boys, NYC, and fashion among other things. It was really nice to talk to her and the Samantha Thavasa sales team about their handbag and accessory collections. They were kind enough to let me take pictures of some of my favorite bags. That was the hard part, there were so many fabulous bags, that I could have taken pictures of every one. Tinsley’s collection will be in the Madison Ave. store in October. They do not have price points yet, but as soon as I am able to go check them out again and get that information, I will let you all know. You definitely want to check these bags out.

When talking to Tinsley, she said for this collection she wanted to go with a more ladylike, structured design. So what you will see from this collection is something maybe your mother or Jackie Kennedy would have carried in the 70’s. They are feminine, classic, and to me, bags that are timeless. The materials she used were faux leather and animal print. But don't let that turn you away from these bags. They do not feel nor do they look like lesser quality bags. I am serious when I say that I want every bag from this collection. I plan on purchasing the small red chain bag, it's perfect for nights out with fabulous friends.

My FAVE from her collection!

I was a sweaty mess, so please excuse the horrible pic of me! Ugh!

After chatting with the ladies at Samantha Thavasa, I headed to the new flagship Tory Burch Store. I DIE!! It was absolutely gorgeous. And all the sales people were really helpful. I ended up purchasing a small wallet (trying to downsize everything I carry on a daily basis), and if you spent a certain amount last night you received a Tory Burch Fashion’s Night Out tote. And it's just as fabulous as the wallet. I can't wait to carry it! If you are ever in NYC, I would highly recommend going and checking out the store. It is just as you would imagine her store to be. Classic, clean lined, and of course filled with her signature orange and navy. She went full out with this store and it shows. I am sure I will visit that store again soon! She did an absolute amazing job!

Continuing down Madison Avenue, I stopped in Michael Kors, then headed to DKNY. Boy do they know how to throw a party. Popcorn and Beer were served as you walked in. There was a DJ playing some great music. DKNY employees were taking your picture, and everyone was in a great mood. I finally found the tights I have been waiting to purchase August. And bought a FNO T-shirt as well. After spending what little budget I had, I decided to call it quits and head back home. I came back to all my furniture assembled and my bed ready for a much needed nights sleep. Mom and I grabbed some dinner and then came back and crashed. I will tell you, the last three nights we haven’t gone to bed until well after midnight and are up by 7:30, and I have managed to survive. We will see how well I am feeling this time next week.

Here are the "sussies" I purchased last night. I am already using the wallet, obvs! I can't wait to wear the others.

I will be covering several of the shows over the next week for I Heart Heels, and will also cover it here on SBF. Check back here tomorrow for tonight's shows. Have a great weekend!! xo

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday!!! I am just about settled into my apartment, and boy was it a lot of work! It is ALOT easier getting things done back home, I have to say. Wednesday we headed to Ikea, The Container Store, and a Bed Bath and Beyond. We started about 10am and literally didn't get home until 11pm! Travel time and not having a car makes errands and just getting around the city a little harder. But I now have a bed, wardrobes for my clothes, a tv (yes, I can't live without my reality tv shows), and I am making a stop sometime today to grab dishes, glasses, etc at Crate and Barrel. Besides the weather the first two days I was here, things have been great! Thank goodness my mom came with me. There was/is so much to do that there was no way I could have done it all in this short amount of time by myself. So while I am off enjoying Fashion Week, she is putting my apartment together! Such a sweet women, she is!!

Have Great Weekend!! xo

Shop Zara - Now Online!

Today is the day! You can now shop online at ZARA!!! This is HUGE! As you all know, I have a slight obsession with this company. They have great clothes, with a great price point, and they are always on point with the trends for each season. So in your spare time today, go check out their online store and see what I have been raving about for so long. If you buy anything, I would love to know!! Since I am furnishing an apartment, most of my disposable income is going towards things for that, instead of my long list of fall clothes and accessories I am DYING to purchase. So I am going to live vicariously through you! Happy Wednesday!! XO

Taking Chances . . .

I'm here!! Just landed in NYC! My new home! YAY YAY YAY! I am so excited for where this move is going to lead me. I have no idea what the future holds for me, but know that NYC is where I am supposed to be at this point in my life. Over the next several weeks I am going to be a busy girl! I was extended the opportunity to cover several shows during Fashion Week for another blogger friend of mine. So you will have to check back here to get all the info on what I am doing and the site of the blog I am going to be blogging for. Going to Fashion Week has been something I have always dreamt of doing, and I am ecstatic that I was given this opportunity! Things this week are going to be crazy! I have to furnish my apartment, unpack and get settled in, attend FNO events, Blogger events, and about 20 Fashion Shows! Yes, I am sure I sound ridiculous to some and tiring or impossible to others, but I am so excited to have all these opportunities that I can barely sit still. I am not complaining one bit about all that I have going on. I am thrilled with any opportunity that comes my way.

I hope everyone has a fabulous week, and please check back often for lots of Fashion Week updates, Spring 2012 Trends, and of course how I am adjusting to this fabulous city. XO

Citiscapes September Issue

For those of you that live in NWA, you all are familiar with Citiscapes Magazine. If you aren't from our neck of the woods, it's a monthly magazine that features parties from around the area, restaurants to check out, people you need to know, what's going on in our community, and sometimes lil ole bloggers like myself. I was contacted back in the summer to be the featured fashion blogger for their September Issue! I cannot tell you how thrilled and excited I was that they asked me! I started Saved By Fashion almost a year ago, with no intentions of anything really coming out of it. I just wanted to have an outlet to fulfill my shopping, fashion, and creative ideas. So the fact that someone noticed SBF and thought it was good enough to be in their magazine, has me on cloud nine. Below is the article from the magazine. If you live in the area, or will be in town for the game this weekend, look for the issue! I would love to know what you think!

Thank you Citiscapes for such an amazing opportunity! XO

Happy Friday! Have a fabulous weekend, and GO HOGS!!!
