Alejandro Ingelmo: Recycling car parts for the "Luna Shoe"

DIY and reusing everyday items or scraps from leftovers has become somewhat of a culture norm these days. Everyone is trying to find ways to reuse what they already have. So isn't it fitting that designers get in on the trend too? Lexus challenged four designers to create fashionable works of art using parts of the Lexus CT 200h. (a 90% recyclable car) The collection will appear in the January Issue of Vogue Magazine, while will be on newsstands December 15th.

In celebration of this new collection, Vogue is hosting a series of videos that take you behind the scenes of the Lexus Fashion Workshop Challenge. The feature video for this week is about Alejandro Ingelmo, and his creation of a fabulous pair of wedges. You all might remember him from this fashion week post. He is a fab-u-lous shoe designer, and one of my absolute favorites! Using armrest leather trim, rubber from the tires, and clear plastic tubing, Ingelmo created the "Luna Shoe"
