Blue and White
I may have mentioned before that I have a small obsession with Navy. And it was like it happened out of the blue (no pun intended!) I bought one bag because the sales woman at Barneys said it was a great alternative to my first love, Black. And I have been hooked ever since!! Three bags, 4 pairs of shoes, and countless top and skirts later, I think it's safe to say that Blue is the new Black. Well, at least for me. And with warm weather upon us, I just love pairing blue with white. To me, it's just so classic and there is something so preppy and old school about it too. I wore several blue and white looks over the weekend and cannot wait to play around with all the options in my closet. Here are a few looks I just adore!

Favorite Follows
I dont' know about you guys, but I am r-e-a-d-y for the long weekend! Memorial Day weekend, for me, is the start of summer. YES! It's sort of a three day long kick off party, if you will, and I plan to enjoy the heck out of it!
I always get asked by friends and family what blogs they should follow, who am I really loving right now, or what instagram accounts they need to add to their daily obsessions. So I thought I would start doing a weekly post of my favorites as of late. Not all are fashion (gasp!), but all definitely inspire me in one way or another or just add some entertainment to my day! If there are people I should be following or you just adore, I would love to hear about them!
This southern lady has the greatest style. I just love seeing her style each day and how it's just so unexpected and really works. If you are looking to revamp pieces in your wardrobe, or looking to amp up for everyday looks, Mary is the girl for you!
I am currently in the process of re-decorating/actually decorating my apartment and this site has it all! I especially love the small spaces posts! It has been so helpful to see how others with tiiiiny apartments utilize space to the best of their ability.
This fabulous woman is Jerry Seinfeld's wife and she is 100 real and no holds barred. She features some of her recipes but mostly its funny, quippy sarcastic posts, with a little inspiration thrown in there too. You will never be bored following this lady!
You can virtually travel around the world with National Geographic's instagram posts. Their pictures are real and breathtaking and give us an up close and personal glimpse of what life is like thousands of miles away.
This account is all things fashion, from of the moment trends and future forecasting to an over indulgence of celebrity style. They have great ways of taking runway styles and applying them to the real life girl. #love
Sometimes we just need a little pep talk (tweet) to get us through the day. Mastin Kipp has great tweets that are little bits of food for thought to inspire you to get it together, get back on track, persevere and make your life the best it can be.
Have a great weekend lovelies, and happy reading! xo

partyskirts
There is definitely something to celebrate over here at SBF today! Someone is tuning another year older! So what better day than to talk about a party related favorite!!
I have been in love with partyskirts since I first saw my girl Shasta wear one for her birthday last year (how cute does she look in hers, y'all.) I immediately went to their website and obsessed over which one I needed first. Sadly, I walked away without purchasing. Not because I couldn't find one I loved (I found several, actually), but because the length for this girl was just a little too short for my comfort. Now, I know you all are thinking, she doesn't look tall; and you would be correct. I have always longed to be 5'8", but 5'5" was as tall as the good Lord allowed me to get. My 'problem' is that I have long legs and basically no waist, so skirts sit waayy higher on me than the normal person. And as much as I was dying to own one of these fabulous skirts, I just can't get away with it!
When I found out they had introduced a 'lady length' skirt, I literally squealed with excitement! This would be the PERFECT skirt for me! Midi length is so on trend and they have so many colors to choose from.
Which brings me to the point of this post (sorry, long winded, I know). Yesterday, Party Skirts introduced their Summer 2014 Capsule Collection featuring two new patterns for their partyskirt and lady length styles. Navy and White Stripe and Navy Polka dot. Two of my very favorite patterns! I set an alarm (I didn't want to miss out) yesterday morning and ordered as soon as I got to work. The navy and white stripe lady length is on it's way to me and I cannot wait to style it. I may just have to order the polka dot one too. These are perfect now with a crop top or tee, and can also be worn later this fall with tights a light sweater and booties. Ahh, all the outfit options I am dreaming about creating with this skirt!
Too bad I can't wear this to my birthday dinner tonight. I guess I will just have to come up with another reason to celebrate once she does arrive!
About PARTYSKIRTS:
SKOT started when the Armstrong sisters created the first full-volume, bright silk PARTYSKIRTS to fill a hole in their own closets. The Armstrongs received an overwhelming response to their hand-made, attention-getting signature PARTYSKIRTS whenever they wore them. They started making custom versions for their friends, and the popularity of the skirts grew organically. Soon they had captured the attention of boutiques, media and fashion insiders. The Armstrong sisters realized they were on to something, and turned the PARTYSKIRTS phenomenon they were experiencing into a business, SKOT Apparel.

Vegas Style Challenge
A few weeks ago, Vegas.com asked me to participate in their style challenge and put together some outfits I would wear for a full day of playing at the Aria Resort. Seeing as how this is my birthday week, I thought, what better time to put together some fabulous outfits for day of birthday celebrations!
My idea of Vegas is a little different these days than it was when I was in my 20's, but that doesn't mean it still isn't a fun place to go with your favorite girlfriends and have a great time!
Day Look
This would be my go to outfit for lunch at Lemongrass, followed by a little retail therapy at The Shops at Crystals. I love anything Yum Kim designs, and this romper is a go to! It's super comfortable and you still looks put together.

Pool Time
After all that shopping, spending a little time at Aria's Therapy Pool, sounds like just the relaxation I need. I am all about one piece's this season and this one from Asos is a top contender!
swimsuit / hat / dress / shoes / sunglasses
Enjoy!
Night Look
Vegas would probably be the only place I would try to get away with wearing a crop top. And it's my birthday, so I can wear what I want, right?! I am loving the midi skirt trend that's been everywhere lately. This would be my go to look for dinner with the girls at Javier's followed by Cirque de Soleil's Zarkana.
Vegas seriously has something for everyone! It's the perfect compromise for groups of friends, families, couples, you name it! If you are heading there soon or are planning on making a trip, Vegas.com has ALL you will ever need to know to plan a fantastic trip- seriously! Enjoy!

Voy a la playa!
I wish! With friends and family heading to the beach over the new few weeks, I have been daydreaming about getting away! Even though a beach trip isn't in my immediate future, that hasn't stopped me from thinking about what I would pack if I had such the opportunity.
Below is my wish list for a great beach getaway!

vente-privee spring preview
Any chance I get to play dress up in someone else's closet, I accept immediately! What girl doesn't love to try on gorgeous clothes and accessories and dream up all the places she could wear them too? Well, I had just that opportunity a few weeks ago with vente-privee. I met up with eight other bloggers at their Hudson Street office for a little champagne and a fun styling session. There were racks and tables of goodies that will hit their site throughout the month of May. We were like kids in a candy store, trying to figure out what to wear and put it all together. I chose a GORGEOUS Yumi Kim maxi dress that goes on sale starting May 24th at 10am ET and will end May 27th. It's originally $245, but vente-privee will have it for $117! YOU GUYS!!! This is the perfect summer staple. It is bright, gorgeous, and the fit is perfection. I paired it with a Botkier Legacy Satchel in Citron that added just the perfect pop of color I was looking for. Be sure to hop on their site RIGHT NOW to snatch up this beauty. It's $145!
Thank you vente-privee for such a fun night with some great ladies - Lauren, Lindsey, Staci, Jen, Viv, Ashley, Julie and Brittni. xx

Polished
It's no secret that I have a 'small' obsession with manicures. I go once a week. For me it's relaxing, but mostly I love playing around with different colors and changing things up (imagine that, I like change) Below are my favorites for Spring and Summer. From the deepest of blues to the prettiest of pale pinks, there is something for everyone this season! I'm definitely taking one of these with me this week to test out.

Met Gala Fashion Favorites
In between guacamole, margaritas and tacos for Cinco de Mayo, I was flipping through the gorgeous gowns from last nights Met Gala. This year's theme of White Tie and Decorations was a tribute to Charles James, an Anglo-American designer often labeled as the first US couturier. Women were decked out in ball gowns with full skirts, bustles and long gloves. Not every one stayed with the theme, but the fashion was still just as fabulous. Below are my favorites from the night.
Arizona Muse in custom Ralph & Russo
Beyonce in custom Givenchy
Blake Lively in Gucci
Cara Delevingne in Stella McCartney
Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture
Emma Stone in Thakoon
Kim Kardashian in Lanvin
Victoria Beckham in her own design
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Balmain
Haley Steinfeld in Prabal Gurung
Karolina Kurkove in Marchesa
Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta
Bee Shaffer in Alexander McQueen

Mother's Day Gift Guide
Having just one day to celebrate Mother's just doesn't seem to do them justice. My mother is my hero, my therapist, and my best friend; among many other hats she wears for my sister and me. Having her visit last week made me realize even more how important and necessary relationships with our mothers are. I can honestly say that I could not have made it this far if she wasn't right beside me through all of it. I miss being able to hop in the car and drive to see her on a weekly basis. And I always look forward to and cherish the time we get to spend together since it's not as often as we both would like.
Here are a few gift ideas to get Mom this year.
