Golden Globes Red Carpet Favorites

It's that time of year again, lovelies; Awards Season!  Last night kicked the season off with the Golden Globes.  This is usually my favorite red carpet of them all!  I don't know if everyone comes out with a bang because it's the first one, or if my taste and excitement diminishes with each show (I know, how dare I say that!)

Here are my absolute favorites of the night.

Olivia Wilde in Gucci
My absolute favorite look of the night. THIS is how you dress for award shows when pregnant. She was a perfect mix of classic and sexy without looking too over the top or boring.  Obsessed!!

Amy Adams in Valentino
I am loving the tonal color blocking and the deep neckline is gorgeous on her.

Cate Blanchette in Armani Prive'
Stunning is the only word needed to describe this dress.  Cate looked amazing in this black lace number.  And the back was just as jaw dropping!

Julie Bowen in Carolina Herrera
More color blocking! I LOVE! These two colors are just gorgeous together.  And it also helps to have a body like Julie's! I mean, she wore that dress!

Kerry Washington in Balenciaga
Another mom to be getting it perfect on the red carpet.  This is just stunning on her.  Kerry can do no wrong when it comes to fashion.

Leslie Mann in Dolce & Gabbana
I am a classic black girl, so this dress was definitely a favorite of mine.  I love the lace and peplum combination.

Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren
JAW DROPPING! Talk about drop dead gorgeous! I love it all; the color, the style, the simplistic makeup, and jewels. Lupita totally was the look of the night!

Caitlin Fitzgerald in Emilia Wickstead
I know I am probably one of few who liked this dress.  I thought the color and shape of the dress was gorgeous.  It's different and fresh and maybe that't what drew me to this.  I'm also a huge fan of a tea length dress.  So classic!

Helen Mirren in Jenny Packham
Talk about a looker! Helen looked amazing in this green number.  The whole look is just perfection! I hope I look half as good as she does at her age! Jealous!

No two tears in a bucket here. . .

It's no secret I adore well made, classic things.  And handbags seem to be at the top of that list.  I remember when I was younger, bucket bags were really popular.  I had a lovely Dooney and Bourke version that I carried till the strap fell off.  This style of bag has made a resurgence over the past few seasons and I am loving how designers are making it their own.

This is my absolute favorite one to date - The Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag.  And isn't it just fabulous? They have several color options, some with fun interior colors and others with more neutral options if you prefer it. If you are looking for a new lady to carry, I don't think there is a better, modestly priced option out there than this bag.

** This bag has been wait-listed at many of the stores, so if you want it, don't wait too long!**

Strive

Happy (belated) New Year, Lovelies!! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a great start to 2014. I was able to get away from NYC for two weeks and it was definitely what this girl needed!  I love New York, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it does a body, mind and soul some good to get away from all the craziness for a bit.  It was nice to be able to relax, sleep in, eat whatever I wanted, and just spend time with some of my most favorite people.

Every year, like every other person on this planet, I make resolutions for what I want to accomplish over the upcoming year.  They are usually the same resolutions I have made years before, but have tweaked a little, or are things that I should be doing without hesitation, but have become lax or lazy about.  This year I decided to change my way of thinking and go about this whole "new year, new you" idea a bit differently.  I chose to find one word that I would use to help achieve some long overdue goals and positive changes, as well as hopefully bettering myself in the process.  One to make me feel more accountable for my actions and choices.  To have it in the back of my mind when it comes to work, this blog, family, friends, my relationship, and just life in general.  The word I chose for 2014 is Strive.  By definition, it is 'to make great effort to achieve or obtain something; to fight vigorously.'  I felt this word would cross over all aspects of my life and would be a goal I could definitely achieve in some areas, but would challenge me in others (which I most definitely need.)  I'm hopeful that this will motivate me throughout the year as I work to be better in all parts of my life.  All it takes is a little encouragement and personal strength to achieve what you want.  Here's to a great 2014! xo
