Denim on Denim

Several years ago, when I would see someone wearing denim jeans with a denim shirt or jacket, I would automatically think it was a fashion tragedy. Well, welcome to the 2011 where pairing denim with denim is not a tragedy but instead fashionable. Though I have mostly seen it with winter fashion, this trend can be seen and worn throughout the year. Below are a few examples of how to wear denim together. The key is to not pair the same hues together. You don't want to look like one big piece of denim. The best way to pull of pairing it together is to combine two different shades together. It comes off looking classy, trendy, and a little more sophisticated.

Summer Staple

With spring just around the corner (hopefully), I have started slowly bringing down my spring/summer wardrobe and moving out my winter clothes.  For some reason I really enjoy the change of seasons. It's fun to see what clothes you have from the previous season and it makes me excited to wear them again. I usually forget things I have bought, so it's like Christmas all over again. I go through all the clothes and keep things I know I will wear again, and get rid of the things that I know I probably won't wear. I also make a list of the things that I want to buy for that season. It usually takes me a whole day or weekend depending on how in depth I get. I brought my spring/summer clothes down last week and got them all out and washed them and sorted them. As I was going through the bins, I realized that I have an insane amount of maxi dresses. I mean, 9 out of 10 pieces I pulled out were maxi dresses. I love them, they are perfect for work, play, nights out, etc. They are also great for warmer weather. It gets pretty hot here, so wearing pants or jeans is usually out of the question. I did have to part with some of them, but as I have been making my shopping list for this spring, I have come across several that I want to add to my wardrobe. Am I the only person who has this big of an obsession with Maxi Dresses? My goal this season is to incorporate other items into my wardrobe besides only maxi dresses. But I will forever be a loyal maxi wearer.

Wedding Season Has Begun

Good Morning!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. The weather here was fabulous! One of my friends got married this weekend, so needless to say, I did not get much sleep. But it was so worth it. She looked absolutely amazing and the wedding and reception were perfect. I am always up for a dance or two (or every song they play). For me, wedding season has just begun. Which got me thinking, with so many types of weddings now days, what are some great options to wear for each type? Below are some outfit options that I think would work for weddings we are usually invited to.

Luck of the Irish

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! AND most importantly Happy Birthday to my wonderful baby sister!! LOVE YOU!!

I thought I would do a post today in honor of St. Patty's day and her! Her favorite color is Green, so here are some gorgeous greens that I am coveting right now.

Furla Candy Bag
This bag is made from PVC. It's a bit see through, but opaque enough to hide you most intimate belongings. This is a great bag for spring, and the price ($195) isn't too bad either.

Michael Kors Pleated Skirt
I am loving that maxi skirts are so in right now, and this color is gorgeous.

Tory Burch
Tory Burch Verona Heels
I love the embellishments on these heels. I also like that you can wear them year round. Now, with skirts and dresses, and in the winter with tights.

Essie - Mint Candy Apple
This is a perfect green for Spring. It is a mix of blue/green and reminds me of Tiffany's famous box color.

RD Style Drawstring Short
These are perfect for warm weather. Throw on a t-shirt or tank and go. Or dress them up with wedges and a blazer for a night out.

Perfect Pout

I'm taking a turn into beauty world today. I have been somewhat mildly obsessed with trying new lipsticks/glosses lately. If you know me, you know all to well that I am more of your chapstick only type. Before this recent venture into lip color obsession, the last time I wore a color other than nude on my lips was my wedding in 2007. It was Chanel Rouge Double Intensite' Ruby Lite, in and it was because my mother made me so that my lips would show up in pictures. I have a ton of lipsticks and glosses but have never really gotten into using them. But after looking through all my magazines the past several months, I have noticed a trend in pout fashion. Bold and Bright are trends this Spring, and I am the first to tell you that I am falling victim to this bright pop of color trend. Orange is one of my favorite colors, so of course I have gotten a few of the orange hues that are out right now. I haven't ventured into buying more expensive brands just yet. I am trying out the cheaper ones first, in case I relapse and fall back into my nude comfort zone. Below are some of the ones I have tried and some I am thinking about purchasing. I will say that I have been pretty pleased with the drugstore brands.

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain in Flame
I actually wear this to work just about every day. It has a lip balm at the other end to keep the stain from drying out your lips.

Revlon Orange Flip
I saw this over on Cupcakes and Cashmere and thought I would give it a try. It was on sale at a local drugstore, so I what better time to try it. It is bright, and really orange. I am not sure being a brunette I will be able to pull this off, but I am going to try it later on when it's actually summer and see if I can still get away with it.

MAC Sheen Supreme in New Temptation
This is rich pink shade. It is more glossy and less like a lipstick. It does dry your lips a bit, but using lip balm or a lip scrub can help with that.

Chanel Rouge Double Intensite' in Ruby Lite
This is the color I wore for my wedding. It is has a color stain on one end and a clear shiny gloss on the other. It is bright ladies, just to warn you. But it is perfect for spring and summer. I have started using this again. It definitely stays on your lips. And you will need to reapply the gloss often to keep your lips moisturized.

Nars Heat Wave
This is one I plan on purchasing. I have Medium/Olive skin tone and have been told that this color is perfect for my complexion.

What are your go-to lips colors? Is there one I need to get my hands on?

The Bold Print Blouse

Bold print and floral blouses are a top trend this season. I am seeing them everywhere. To me, this garment is so versatile. It can be worn in just about every season. You can wear it with skinny jeans, wide leg jeans, trousers, skirts, shorts, etc. I love the bright bold colors being used this spring. Below are a few of my favorites, as well as some outfits I would wear.
